DC10 might not look like much from the side of the road to Salinas beach, but inside it plays host to the zaniest, most colourful party crowd on the island and has quickly become an Ibizan institution. Now residents Tania Vulcano & Cirillo take you on a trip through the dark room and onto the terrace for an all day afterhours party like no other.
Circo Loco sprang into existence in 1999 when Italians, Antonio and Andrea, decided to throw a daytime party. The following year Cirillo, Charlie Chester and an international, devoted crowd completed the team alongside residents Jo Mills, Tania Vulcano and Fabrizio. Circo Loco lives up to its name, even before youТve negotiated the pitch black interior and stumbled onto the bright terrace at the back of the club. In the early morning sunshine, cars and caners flock here, drawn by the distant throb of twisted house. Officially the after hours party of the island, many are happy to lose themselves inside. The music may be harder here but, sunglasses on, the hedonism peaks to twisted house and the seasonТs anthems on the terrace. Come into the light and youТre surrounded by the beautifully wasted. IbizaТs liberal reputation excels itself, scattered among the crazy, jumping Italians and playful British and Spanish workers, are beings so odd you couldnТt magic them up, no matter how fettered your imagination.
Circo Loco twists the rules. Rather than promoters chasing DJs, itТs the DJs who hound the promoters to play here. And they donТt use big names to attract the crowd because the partyТs reputation relies on the strength of its residents. So for those of you who arenТt fortunate enough to have visited this la la land, Tania Vulcano and Cirillo have mixed a CD each of tunes which will be making Circo Loco better than ever.
Here on this double CD mix they both show exactly why DC10 is the place to be this summer as they perform back to back residencies in one of the maddest carnival like atmospheres on the planet. Blending and phasing artists such as Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Matt John, Slam, Blake Baxter, Ron Trent and James Holden, Tanio Vulcano and Cirillo reflect both the party vibe of the club and the forward thinking music ethos of Circo Loco. Tania Vulcano (yes it is her real surname) was born in Uruguay but has lived in Ibiza for the last 10 years. Already very well known on the island she has also rapidly gained global recognition and it was four years ago that she became resident at Space and DC10 (Circo Loco) which has served as a stage for her international success. In 2003 her СCriminal GrooveТ track (Stomp Recordings) created a big stir among the island's underground and world's top DJs such as Timo Mass and Pete Tong and on top of that she was nominated for the Ibiza DJ Awards as Best Island DJ. Apart from her Ibizan residencies she is currently bi-monthly resident for The End's Superfreak (London), monthly for WAD @ Queen (Paris), the Circoloco Globetrotters Tour and Space World Tour. Carlo Andrea Raggi, aka DJ Cirillo, is one of the best representatives of the Italian electronic sound around. In more than 20 years his career has taken him around the world, traveling side by side with the biggest names in terms of global electronic music and he has participated in some of the most infamous musical events around including Love Parade, Ravecity, NRG, Evolution, Mayday, E-Werk, Universe, Love Nation, Union Rave and Odyssey.
In Ibiza he is Resident DJ of Circo Loco at DC10, THE white island after-party whilst in Riccione, Italy, Cirillo was resident DJ at the Cocorico' Piramide from 1990 - 2003, after residing at Peter Pan, the Baia Imperiale, Villa delle Rose and Teatriz. Cirillo is not only a great DJ, he is also a successful producer and his releases and remixes have taken in techno, progressive trance, goa trance, acid and house with collaborations alongside Lenny Dee and as part of the mid 90s group СDaturaТ. The man has lived and breathed music all his life.
On the first CD, Tania's style goes from deep and funky techno to tribal house and everything in between. Each and every summer she drives Circo Loco's dancefloor mad and as you will discover on these mix CDs alongside resident and international star, Cirillo who provides us with a superb set of СDC10 ClassicsТ the passion and the madness are still very much in evidence.
